ABOUT Mical Dyck
After a lifetime of one sport or another, Mical start cycling while in college and fell in love with the sport after her first mountain bike race in Hinton, Alberta. Mical has represented Canada at 3 Cross Country Mountain Bike World Championships, 3 Cyclocross World Championships, various CX and MTB all over the World Cups, and Pan American championships in Guatemala and Columbia. She has a 5 time Transrockies winner, 2 times BCBR runner up and Transylvania Epic runner up. As well, Mical is currently a 2 time Canadian Cyclocross National Champion and 2 time SingleSpeed Cyclocross World Champion. Her focus in the past couple of years has switched from the Olympic distance mountain biking to longer distance and multi day events, and cyclocross. This season look for her at the Whiskey, Grande Junction and Carson City series, the inaugural TransBC Enduro, all the local west coast BC events and of course the cyclocross scene.
What is your biggest accomplishment in your mountain biking career?/ or career highlights:
2 time Canadian Cyclocross National Champion. Highlights have been racing all of the mountain bike stage races, it’s like bike camp for adults, you eat, sleep and ride with hundreds of other people that are just stoked to be on their bikes.
What one or two things do you currently do in your training that are keys to your success? Keeping it fun and variable are by far the most important things for doing well and racing for a long time.
What are some of your goals this season?
I’d love to podium in the Whiskey 50 Off Road race in April, and of course win Canadian Cyclocross Nationals again.
Where do you draw your inspiration from? Who are your role models?
I draw my inspiration largely from the people that I try to surround myself with and the other girls that I race. I’d have to say that Catharine Pendrel is a peer but she is also a big role model for me and many other girls in sport, you really couldn’t ask for a better World Champion or ambassador for the sport!
What is your favourite Swagman rack?
I love the Swagman Semi 4.0 with the add on. I can easily carry 4 bikes with wheels on with that rack!
